Raiden (Spelled 'Rayden' in some versions) is a character from the Mortal Kombat series. Raiden first appeared in the orignal Mortal Kombat as one of the 7 playable characters. He is based off the immortal god of thunder and lightning, from Japanese mythology. Raiden is one of the few characters to have appeared in every Mortal Kombat title (with the exception of Special Forces).

HistoryEdit

Mortal KombatEdit

In his debut appearance, Raiden is the God of Thunder. He was invited to compete in the Mortal Kombat tournament personally by Shang Tsung, the contests host. Raiden agrees and takes the form of a human so that he may compete.

If Raiden wins the tournament and defeats Shang Tsung, he will go on to invite other gods like himself to compete in the tournament, and the resulting battles will ultimately destroy the Earth.

Raiden is a playable character in Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe. He is a playable character in the story mode in Chapter 7. In the story, he acts as the leader of the Mortal Kombat side.
