Not to be confused with the Spyro from the original series, the Spyro from A Hero's Tail, or the Spyro from The Legend of Spyro.

Spyro the Dragon, also known as Mega Ram Spyro in series 3, is a purple dragon and the titular character of Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure. He has a dark counterpart called Dark Spyro and a legendary counterpart called Legendary Spyro.

Spyro is an eager, young at heart, strong-willed dragon. Fearless and brave, he is a hero that is dedicated to defending his world from evil. He has immense knowledge of all of the islands in Skylands and is always up for adventure. It's also known that Spyro is a quick learner who can master new abilities in hours.

Spyro also has a headstrong, impulsive side. As shown in one of the books based around Skylanders, he originally believed that he could do anything since he was used to working alone. This caused him to struggle with working as a team player, however, this seems to have disappeared over time. As time went on, Spyro became one of Master Eon's greatest leaders.

According to Spyro's biography, he hails from a rare line of purple dragons. Before coming to Skylands, he resided in a faraway land that few have ever been to. The Scroll of the Ancients mentioned Spyro prominently and it was Master Eon who invited him to join the Skylanders. Spyro is now one of the most valued protectors of Skylands.

Spyro was born in a far-off land as the latest in a rare line of purple dragons. As he grew, Spyro became a warrior for good and eventually became known as a legendary hero. His adventures even drew the attention of the Ancients, who wrote them down in their scrolls. Master Eon, a portal master, watched Spyro's adventures and invited him to join the Skylanders.

Over time, Spyro faced off against a dragon named Cynder. By defeating Cynder, Spyro freed her from Malefor, the Undead Dragon King. The two then went on a quest together and afterwards, Spyro convinced Master Eon to make Cynder a Skylander. Later on, Lightning Rod also became a Skylander, due to being inspired by Spyro's stories.

At one point in time, The Darkness attempted to corrupt the Core of Light. Spyro was almost consumed by dark magic but Master Eon intervened. He then taught Spyro how to control this dark magic. By doing so, Spyro transformed into Dark Spyro. However, due to his brave heart and careful control, Spyro could use this power without falling into darkness.
